WOOD-WORKING
WORKSHOP
For experienced puppeteers and beginning
puppeteers This workshop offers a 5-day course of basic wood-working
and tips for creating a specific marionette of your choice. Each
participant is asked to arrive with his own project or sketch of
a character chosen beforehand; others may choose to bring an already
existing marionette to improve upon . After making the patterns
from the finished drawing, each participant is individually taught
to cut out his marionette using a band saw. Other machines include
a circular sanding machine, a drill and drill press and hand tools
such as a rasp or sculpting knives. Advise will be given for the
costume but its making is not included in the alloted time.
Maximum number of participants: 5

Our workshops are designed not only for
children but also for adults, be they professional or amateur. A
marionette kit, designed by Bruno and Darlene Frascone, is passed
out to the participants. Each group assembles the puppet with the
help of the Frascones and a step-by-step booklet (no special tools
are required). After stringing the puppet to the control paddle,
the participants learn how to perform basic gestures and movements.
- In school workshops (25 students maximum) the class keeps one
of the marionettes. - Individuals may opt to buy their marionette.
Length of workshop: about 6 hours - 3-hour
